EU & ASIA EVS PROJECT 2009-2010

A Young Bridge Between Europe and Asia is a multilateral project organized and implemented by AFSAI and co-funded by the European Commission in the frame of the Youth in Action Program, Action 2 (European Voluntary Service).

The project promotes social inclusion of disadvantaged people and intercultural dialogue between Europe and Asia. It involves 1

6 volunteers who are doing their voluntary service in 4 European countries: Italy, Poland, Spain and the UK with 4 Asian countries: India, Nepal, Vietnam and Indonesia. All the volunteers are engaged in activities dealing with inclusion of “marginalized” people in society such as: unemployed girls, children, elderly and disabled people. Some projects for example, take place in organizations dealing with non formal intercultural education of young people or in schools. Some others ask volunteers to work with elderly people or people suffering from HIV.

Thanks to this EVS project we want to spread the idea of fighting against social obstacles and the indifferences towards people with “less opportunities”. Also allowing this exchange of volunteers between Europe and Asia, we want to make everybody aware of  the importance of interculturality, as a way to build a society without prejudices towards those with different cultural backgrounds.
